Avignon Capital completes refinancing of Barcelona life sciences centre

Avignon Capital is pleased to announce the successful refinancing of a life sciences centre located in Barcelona.

The property comprises 13,606 m² of high‑quality space in the heart of the 22@ innovation district, Barcelona’s undisputed technology hub and one of Europe’s leading centres for research, science, and tech-driven enterprise. Fully occupied by Banc de Sang i Teixits (BST), a public entity under the Generalitat de Catalunya, the asset benefits from a secure and long‑term income stream.

The refinancing was completed with BBVA on improved terms that enhance the long‑term performance of the asset. The outcome reflects Avignon Capital’s continued confidence in the quality of the building, its strong occupational profile, and the strength of the 22@ district as a core business and innovation location.

Avignon Capital remains focused on identifying and executing strategic opportunities across core European markets, aligned with our commitment to disciplined asset management and long‑term value creation.

Advisory support for the transaction was provided by CBRE’s Debt & Structured Finance team alongside Garrigues.

Doug Burton Cantley, Managing Director at Avignon Capital commented:

We are delighted to conclude the refinance of this strategically important building with our parters at BBVA. This will allow us to further develop our programme of sustainability enhancement initiatives to ensure the property continues to achieve the highest levels of performance over the longer term for our tenant”
